Track Grade: Easy Short Walks
Duration of Event: 4-5 hours
Last year this walk sold out early
We take the bus to an award winning vineyard. This is the last time we will be visiting this vineyard as it is to close this year. Here we walk with the owner Nick Dymock around the boutique Pohangina Valley Estate vineyard and olive grove through the picturesque sheep farm. Nick stops along the way to tell how the vineyard and olive grove started. Three varieties of grapes: chardonnay, pinot gris and pinot noir, are grown here to produce award winning wines. We can sample six of their wines in a garden setting, while enjoying a gourmet picnic lunch (included in the price). After lunch we board the bus for a short journey to the Pohangina Wetlands for a guided walk by John Brock. Next stop is just down the road at the County Fayre Cafe for a cup of tea or coffee and learn about the history of the Pohangina area.
