The first part of the newly formed 2km Naenae Track is in short zigzags uphill with steps. The track crosses a stream then follows through a dense canopy much of it best described as goblin forest.
The Naenae Track crosses the Otangane Stream and now via a paper road leads up to the Hardings Park at the top and then joins the Otanganu Loop that wanders down then through the Platinum Mines to join the well known Sledge Track.
The track runs downhill with steps in places, beside the Kahuterawa Stream and passes beside a swing bridge that leads to Arapuke Forest Park, a popular mountain bike area with 15kms of mountain bike tracks.
