Duration of Event: 6 – 5 hours
The Mana-Tara Crossing is a walk along North Range Road in the Tararua Ranges in the Manawatu down to the Beyond the Bridge Cafe site (now closed) at the end of the Manwatu Gorge about 5kms south of Woodville in the Tararua District of Wairarapa.
Transport leaves Palmerston North at 8am, and in about a half hours time arrives about 3km from the Pahiatua Track junction, along the top of North Range Road, where the walk starts.
The walk winds it’s way along a farm track (can be muddy in places) through the Meriden Wind Farm of a number of turbines. On a clear day there are magnificent views over the Manawatu. The track winds its way down Hall Block Road to the Beyond the Bridge Cafe location.
Transport will be waiting here to take you back to Palmerston North arriving there about 3.30pm.
