Experience the Manawatu River Pathway on two wheels with this new activity to this year’s festival. Bring your bike for a cycle along one of the city’s most popular scenic shared pathways.
This leisurely morning ride will take two to three hours and will cover approximately 20 to 25 km, taking you alongside the Manawatu River and past the newly built pedestrian bridge – He Ara Kotahi, which is designed to represent a Karaka Tree. You’ll journey past the Victoria Esplanade and its many bush trails, and down towards the Fitzherbert Bridge and beyond where you’ll experience exceptional views of the Anzac Park cliffs.
There will be a café stop along the way. The cost will be additional if you’d like to buy something to eat or drink.
You’ll be guided by Chris Brunskill and friends, starting and finishing at the Paneiri Park carpark, at the end of Maxwells Line, Awapuni, at the southern end of the city. This bike ride is suitable for families as there will be no road biking.
